VisionQuest's first objective is to transition technologies developed by one of the founders and President/CEO of VisionQuest, Dr. Peter Soliz, PhD. Since 1996, Dr. Soliz has been developing ophthalmic imaging technologies, including an adaptive optics fundus imager, an optical functional imager of the retina, and software for automatic detection of retinal lesions in patients with diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and glaucoma.
In the next 2-5 years VisionQuest plans to secure private and federal funding to demonstrate the effectiveness of these new technologies for early detection of these ocular diseases. The focus will be on making low-cost, portable imaging technology for use in screening of high risk populations for glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and ARMD. Software for automatic detection of markers for these diseases has been demonstrated in our research.
